A Life-Long Investment in Finance
Before even attending preschool James would visit his father's firm on Montgomery Street in the heart of San Francisco's financial district. This was his first exposure to finance. He got to see the trading floor, quietly enjoy the board room, and 'meet' with execs - the experience had a lasting effect.
Upon completing his bachelor's degree, James began his career in finance at a mid-size advisory firm in Portland, OR. Later, he returned to school to obtain a master's degree where his knowledge of finance was deepened greatly. After graduation James entered the world of institutional finance when he took a position in venture banking in the analysis and management of a $100M venture debt portfolio. While working in venture banking, a unique opportunity to start an independent investment management career presented itself, and James has invested primarily on behalf of individuals ever since.

In addition to his formal education, James is autodidactic so his knowledge of investing is always expanding into the many ancillary areas finance touches. Beyond his professional life, he has a deep appreciation for nature, gardening, reading, travel, cuisine, and spending time with loved ones.

James has a B.A. in Economics from Gonzaga University and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance from Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business.
